My solar controller lets me adjust float voltage. What’s the ideal float voltage for LiFePO4 storage?

For LiFePO₄ (Lithium Iron Phosphate) batteries, the ideal float voltage depends on whether the system requires a float stage at all. Unlike lead-acid batteries, LiFePO₄ cells do not need to be kept at a constant high voltage once fully charged.
✅ Recommended Float Voltage:
13.4V to 13.6V (for 12V systems)
This range keeps the battery topped off without overcharging or stressing the cells.
⚙️ Notes:
If your solar charge controller allows it, you can even disable float charging entirely; LiFePO₄ batteries prefer to rest after full charge.
Avoid float voltages above 13.8V, as this can reduce long-term cycle life.
Always verify with your battery manufacturer’s specifications, as BMS settings may vary slightly.
