Sometimes a combined solution works: a small copper plate or busbar in between, then clamp it.
I do it by measuring voltage before and after a defined load current and calculate the resistance.
I usually store mine half-full, covered, never had issues. Just keep it easy.

@Ruby Knight No, it rarely ends well. Different capacities throw the whole system out of balance. Sooner or later the BMS will shut things down.
On my boat, I notice overload from the inverter — it starts beeping. Voltage stays flat. Temperature only rises after a few minutes.
